I have just formatted my SD card on my phone so I can easily transfer files to free up space in the internal memory. Formatting my SD card means deleting everything on it, so before I did that I just put what I had on the SD on the PC. However, I'm having trouble transferring the music files from my PC to my SD card that goes into my phone which is an Android 6.0.

What I have tried:

I've tried dragging the files from my PC to my phone folder through USB connection, but that errors every time or has no progress. I've also tried taking my SD Card adapter and transferring the files, but that also fails to work. I need to know how to transfer the files without having to downloading them back again.

This is not a question for this software related forum.

It is possible that your SD card has failed, try using another one.

How many files have you copied into the root (i.e. top) directory of the SD Card?

As explained above, there is a limit on the number of files which can be stored in the top level directory/folder (the limit varies from one Card to another, for technical reasons, but is typically an even number).

When that limit is reached, the only way to add further files to the Card is to create one or more sub-directories (a.k.a. sub-folders) and add the files in those subdirectories.

Consult the instructions which came with the Card to see if there is a special name that a sub-folder for storing mp3 files needs to have.
