RDL reverts to defaulted value

I updated an RDL that had the user name as a defaulted value. The .aspx code behind sets the user name to the identity of the person logged in and running the report.

I added one field to the RDL and updated the report back to the report server.

Now, when the report I run, the defaulted generic user is logged instead of the identity of the person logged in and running the report.

Why is this happening and how do I resolve this?
