Interface linux device using Python from another place

Hi,

How do I interface linux device to grab data from it using windows python tools? Currently, I'm running Azure project. I have download the development on Azure Python SDK from azure iot sdk master on GitHub. But I'm quite confusing, what are the needs for both requester and receiver to communicate and pass the data? Like open IP, port or something? I'm not sure how to ask what python need to authenticate a connection to linux device as I never done one. Now, my first task it is.

What should I have/ask client to provide in order the python can complete the task?
