What is purpose of WCF workflow service

Hello ,
I am creating an application which includes document from Clients and OCR Tools extracts data . For this process we have created Windows service which inserts data in database .After this on web application user verifies against data and against some rules he will define flow.
Right Now this we have tested on small scale volume .
Now in this Process large scale document processing involves .Where document transfer,document sharing may require.For this i am looking that
Shall I use WCF workflow service to automate this process in proper manner?
Also shall I use Sharepoint ?
I dont know much about WOrkflow and Sharepoint.
Please help me to proper way

What I have tried:

1. we have created Windows service which extracts data from document and insert into database .
2. We have given uploading facility to client to Upload documents
3. After extracting data various users verify data against their rules.
This works well but is this right way ? OR I should use sharepoint workflow service so that it will be much perfect and right way ?
