Session management using cookie in subdomain

Dear Friends,

In the website when user log's in session is created and stored in cookie as well.
When the session is cleared, i am recreating the session with cookie value again.

I am creating the cookie value in
www.xyz.com
Can i use the same cookie value in its sub-domain but it different application to create the session using its cookie value.
abc.xyz.com

Kindly guide.

What I have tried:

I am storing the session value in cookie when an user logs in.
