My confirmation e-mail for cp is not being sent to my new e-mail address. can someone help resovle this?

I changed my E-mail in CP for authoring purposes but CP doesn't send me a confirmation E-mail. I get other things from CP such as my article being published but confirmation does not work--so CP e-mail does get to my new address. When I change back to my older e-mail address I do get the confirmation E-mail. Please help. I would like to use my new address as my older e-mail has too much spam in it to be useful for answering CP questions.

What I have tried:

I change to my new address in CP and get authoring/publication change notifications but cannot get the confirmation to work

I change back to m old address in CP and suddenly I can get a CP confirmation of my (old) new address

I've done this multiple times back and forth but it's always the same outcome.
