How do i feed dynamic link data to the sharepoint promoted links wep part

Since manually updating the promoted links list is soooo tedious, I would like to dynamically provide a list of sub-sites to the Promoted Links Web Part, preferably with JavaScript. This can be either refreshing the promoted links list or directly importing the list data to the web part. Querying the sub-site data is not the problem (already have that), it is getting that data (site url, logo url, title) imported to the web part.

Any thoughts?
