How to Exclude subsites from Navigation nodes accessed through a Sharepoint REST API?

I need to display the top navigation from a sharepoint site in my .Net application.
When I try to access the navigation using REST api (/_api/web/navigation/topnavigationbar), I'm getting all sub sites along with navigation links.

Whats the best way to get only links visible in top navigation?
