Modify XML of the running PowerPoint Presentation

Dear all,

I have a big trouble here, trying to figure out how to dip-dive into XML of the PowerPoint.
What I want to do is to adjust my active presentation XML to add shape, for example, using vb.net application level add-in.

Can anyone please tell me if this is possible and give me a hint on how to treat my ActivePresentation to access it's XML.
