I Have managed to process saved audio file to open, alter and save it back to disc. Now,I wanted to work on a live audio input, Microphone input. There are no such functions in C to capture a live mic input, or at least I couldn't find any.I have seen some help but in other programming languages or OS. Friends on line advised me to use MCI of windows. But i couldn't run a single simple code in MCI functions with out errors. I just want some one show me a simple example to capture a microphone input in C(non other) programming language please. I also wish to get reading material, specifically on my problem.

I thought that it would be easy as described in the article Voice Recording/Playing back using simple classes.

Take also a look at the Microsoft SDK samples.

Your are not the first asking it. Here is a very explaining answer.

Dear KarstenK thanks for the quick reply. I have seen the link. The "Answer" link suggests to use PortAudio . the other links are not specific to my problem.I want to use only C codes and my first task is to capture the mic input.or are you suggesting to leave MCI and try another means?. Am new to audio processing, not to programming. i just want to know how to first recognize, open as a file, the mic in to may code. i really appreciate further help
