Storage Plan for MYSITE for 250k + users.

Hi ,

Scenario :

We went through lot of blogs and online tutorial for planning the MYSITE storage requirements.Our vendor share us the figure of setting up mysite quota limit of 250 MB per user site collection.Which means we will need 250k * 250 MB of minimum storage during the setups. Our Business Head doesn't have the budget to buy this much of storage. Later we bring down for setting up the site quota to 50MB per users.

Questions :

1> Does SharePoint will need 250k * 50MB of data storage right from the beginning of the setup? I mean to ask , if not all users created their MYSITE site collection then also we must need to have minimum 250k* 50 MB of storage which will be blocked by SharePoint for any usage other than MYSITE?

2> Suppose few user uses just 5-8 MB of their MYSITE , then also 50MB space for this user will be blocked and can't be utilized ?

3> We have a plan to increase the storage quota on demand for certain users if their storage reaches the threshold set for 50MB,

what would be the possible impact ?
