How do I use the apply() function on the iris dataset in R

I would like to use the apply() function and create an object called 'Item.IQR' that contains the interquartile range of each of the first four columns of "iris". How do I go about doing this? I am new to R and I'm not even sure how to navigate the iris dataset. Could someone please help me out here? Thank you.
