In 2015 terms, Please,

We are working on a school science project. A critical part of this project requires transfer of the thumbnail image of any video stored in a remote device attached to a PC via USB (camera, etc.) to a PictureBox on a Visual Studio form. This transfer routine needs to be in program code and not accomplished using a canned commondialog popup form display. We would be thrilled to try a fully functional code sample of such a code routine. We have combed the internet extensively and found a multiple of ancient attempts and/or third party software plug-in's that do not work or are unsuitable to our needs.

We understand that video thumbnail info exists in EXIF format for videos stored in a portable device DCIM folder, but we have not been able to properly connect with this EXIF format info. We also understand we can transfer the video to a PC drive and then extract the thumbnail from this PC video file, but that is exactly what we do not want to do.
