SQLMail without Outlook in SQL 2000

Dear friends,

I am working now with SQL 2000. I want to send mail using SQL itself.
I have done it but through MAPI profile... which needs Outlook interference like for sending mail I need to click on send/receive in Outlook. So I need help - without Outlook interference, can I send mail from SQL or not?

Please help!
