How to code an ASP.NET Website to send push notification

I am a Windows Phone mobile developer, I built an application for the Windows Phone 8 platform. Now I need to be sending Push Notifications to the Users, using an ASP.NET website on a regular basis, text and image also for the desktop version of the app. How do I code this, or where can I get a sample code... I need step by step direction
