How to switch audio configuration between stereo and 5.1 via VS(C#) code in Windows 7,8

Greetings. I'm planning my audio project of easy-way switching between headphones and speakers. The problem has been teasing me for a while, so i decided to code the solution.

Let's start. I have a 5.1 headphones and simple stereo speakers.I also have my Realtek HD mixer, where i can change the configuration of my audio system manually. I was trying to find out how to switch this system parameter from C# code and found that DirectX(or SlimDX) somehow can do it for me. I tried hardly, but I think I don't have much experience for it.
