How to draw stars with OpenGlES?

Currently I am building a livewallpaper and I want to add some twinkling stars on top of my background. So how do I draw a star and make it twinkle? I was thinking of just using a single point but I am honestly not sure on how to do it, thanks for any help anyone can give.

I haven't tried anything but I have a few ideas of how to do it, don't know if they'll work though.
