Hi:

When mouse is hovered over 'MessageBoards' a nice DHTML pulldown menu pops up. It really looks nice. But when there any dropdowns before the pulldown menu stops, a window (hole) appears in the dropdown menu. I think in those cases, the dropdown menu/select dropdown control need to be adjusted of its zIndex property.

This is a bug in IE, the "hole" does not appear in FireFox.

Hi:

In forum posting, if Screenshot attachment facility is given, it would be useful to provide helpful screenshot as a quick reference.

Of course, I understand that this will lead to junk files being uploaded. But size restriction like 50K (gif/jpg only) can be imposed and periodic scanning and removal of files can be done.

Hi.

I submitted an article[^] through the Wizard yesterday, and this morning it is missing. Now, I believe it is being edited, but why does it need to be invisible to the readers during editing? Also, it would be nice to send an e-mail notification to the author when something like this happens.

I really hope it is being edited. Why would anyone remove an article like this (it is about some C++ dark corners) Unsure | :~

Hi:

Did you check the 404 Error Page. Might be your article was moved to a category instead of lying around in /useritems/

The 404 error page would normally give a tip on that.

There is no 404 page. Just all the links to my article disappeared.

I recomend you start by writing a client. This is a good server environment to start with:

Since Longhorn isn't going to be out for years, I don't see the need for all those forums. MS already has their newsgroups and you're going to find lots more discussion over there.

Some kind of "newbie" level for new users

It's a sad fact with any message board that new users will often jump in and ask stupid questions without reading FAQs that'd stop them making fools of themselves

How about having a different user status/head icon in the posts for a month or so from their first message board post that makes it obvious that a user is new (with the aim of letting people who reply know that it is a new user, and so be gentle with them)

I guess this could be open to abuse from flamers - maybe you could make it only visable to people who have a silver or above rating themselves (or something like that)

Printer friendly option for articles

I would like to suggest that you add an option to print the articles in a "printer friendly" format, so that all the words appear on the printed page. Currently, left border crowds out the last inch on the right hand side, and I have to extrapolate what is missing.
