I've been asked to look at the possibility of implementing face recogition from a web cam. I work for a small company so can't afford any extensions that you have to pay for. Does anyone know of any freeware face recognition libraries? Are there any special key words I could google for?

Hi,
I had seen running projects for that one, but it is not really realible and robust.
What the programmer did :
1. Capture the image using the webcam
2. Search from the databank by comapring pixel by pixel. The matching percentage will be compared based on the tolerance defined level say +/- 90%
Of course the lightings and position of the head will sureley affect, even hairdo.

I was wondering out of interest, why don't my MFC projects in VC++ .NET use windows xp styling on their controls?
The simplest way i can think to explain what I mean is:
On a windows xp machine using the windows xp style display, bring up the run dialog from the start menu. The command box has a thin border and looks flat, and the buttons are rounded and have highlighting etc.
Now switch to windows classic style display, and bring it up again. ALL my projects look like this.
Is that just how MFC is, or have i skipped a setting somewhere?

Thats what I don't understand, VC++ .NET does it by default, and it still isn't working.
Just to be sure, I included the lib (project->properties->linker->advanced->import library: comctl32.lib) and the header (#include commctrl.h).
The manifest is already in the source tree as MFC projects create one by default.
I have tried including the manifest as a file with the app, and embedding it, and i still get windows classic controls.
Any more ideas? :s

hi, this is the first post for me in here,, i am working with VC++ with some of Dev-C++... under VC++ there is a header called conio.h, there is a function called _out ,,, it is to output a byte to a port,,, i can find that function in conio.h's Dev-C++

Your grammar is a bit obfuscated, but I guess that you're having problems writing to an IO port.
In Win32 you will have to use CreateFile() and WriteFile() when accessing the COM ports. Look up the functions in the help files, there is a description on how to open a port.

Hello everbody,
i have a very very idiocratical problem! currently i try to change my application so it then supports the SecurityCenter located in XP Service Pack 2. The communication to the SecurityCenter works without any problems, but only in the debug version. I need to use the funcion CreateFile to enumerate some stuff. And as mentioned this works only in the debug version. In the release version the CreateFile function namly works but the communication to the SecurityCenter is missing. If i ignore (cancel out) the CreateFile function the SecurityCenter recognizes my application again, even in the release version!
Has anyone an idea of what i'm doing wrong ?

The error seems to be that your method, ::Decrypt(), has not been defined.
It is declared in the header file as you have stated, but somehow the compiler cannot find the corresponding implementation of this function.

Hi,
The module is to send data in 1 text box and receive that data in another text box using 2 buttons.
But when a check box is checked, a single line data should be received in the second text box. How is it possible?

Hi,
How can i develop a application which can execute once and the executive file would be removed from device. Like: After program show a message, this executive file is removed. I got a straight way that after the application executes, deleting this application file. But how? Running program couldn't delete itself. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks!

One solution is to create a .bat file with deleting instructions. You will call the bat file at the end (before return). That work's generally.

While that program is running (before return or some other interrupt, this program doesn't be terminated), i think the executive file is locked. And it can be deleted or moved. However, i will try this way. Thanks you!

I think the reason why the .bat file method works is because you put it just before return and the program you want to delete exits faster than the bat file opens...

I Write a player to play *.wmv files using the Windows media player ActiveX Control .It use about 20MB Memory when playing a wmv File,But the Windows Media player provided by the system only use 8MB.I wonder how can I decrease the memory useage of my player,how can the Windows Media player provided by the system managed to do it ?

Does anyone know how to declare an iterator to, say, a struct variable? Here's an eg of a struct I declared outside a function:
struct vStruct {
CString szString;
int nInt;
double dDouble;
} v;
Then, inside the function I have:
std::vector<vstruct> vStruct;
And the problem is when I do this:
std::vector<vstruct>::iterator iStruct;
