You might be more descriptive. You posted this in the ASP.NET group first and received replies. Since it seems you have not received a reply that helps, you might give more information that people may understand what you are after.
You say "SQL/ASP", those are about as far a part as you can get since one is a generic specification for a database query and the other can be the old Microsoft Active Server Pages.
What language are you actually asking about to format the string in? What database are you using? Is this ASP or ASP.NET? Are you looking for a solution that is in TSQL for a SQL Server, it is for the mySQL, or maybe just old MS Access?

EDIT: Cross browser too please...atleast IE4+ and Latest mozilla/firefox
I am aware of window.screen.width but what I need is a way to get the height of the visible screen/document.
That means as the user resizes window or adds toolbars like Google...the pixels should change as well.
These pages require extensive scrolling so i cannot use a div and set it's height and width to 100% and get it's width...
Anyone know of any other idea???

Is there a way to programatically force IE to the menu option - View - Text Size - Medium? If the user selects something else, things don't properly line up and look UGLY!

Hi,
Here is my configuration. I have one machine running Windows/2000 Pro SP4 with all the latest fixes and a Windows/2003 Enterprise Server running with all the fixes, SQL and a few other goodies. I develop from the W2K machine using Visual Studio Enterprise 2003 and VS is storing the files on the server with the actual project file on the W2K machine.
Everything was running fine, until I installed the MSDN subscriptions Library for August. I think this is the cuprit but I'm not 100% positive. It worked Saturday morning but was failing Sunday night. I tried to think of everything I did Saturday and Sunday.
After installing MSDN subscription library, whenever I try to start the debugger for a Web Application I get the following error message:
Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Access is denied. Verify that you are an administrator or a member of the 'Debugger Users' group on the machine you are trying to debug. After being added to the 'Debugger Users' group, you must log off and log back on for the settings to apply.
I am logged on as userid: "Administrator", Administrator is in the 'Debugger Users' group on the W2K machine and on the Windows 2003 server. The password for Administrator is the same on both machines. If I look in the security logs for the Windows 2003 server, I can see userid Administrator sucessfully logging on when I start the debugger and almost instantly logs off because a failure occurs, but I'm not seeing any failure messages. I am the administrator and I'm in the 'debugger users' group on both machines, so I'm really puzzled why I am receiving this error message.
I thought I may have broken something in the code, so I created a new project (Just a label that said FRED), but that fails too, same exact error.
Last resort, I ran the .NET repair process on both machines, rebooted both machines and I still get the error.
Does anyone have any thoughts or any ideas where to look. Its really strange that this just started happening.

Anyone seen this error message, and know what could be a cause.
It’s for a forum. It works. Just maybe a couple of times a week this error message will appear, and disappear by itself!
A friend of mine believes that the fault is with my Host (OneandOne). But after phoning my host they insist its not them but possibly there are open connections to the database not being closed. Which is quite possible I guess. But then again, the rest of the website works on a separate database. If there was too many connections open. This would effect both databases?????
Would be interesting if there was a way to at any moment in time see how many connections are open

I'm trying to open the system store from IIS web extension and I
get an ACESS_DENIED error. It works when I run extension in "High-Isolation" mode under account belonging to Administrators group (which is not safe at all!!!), but id doesn't work if I run it under local IWAM_<machinename> account or specially-created "non-administrator" domain account. Where (and how) adjustments should be done to make it work?

I received a nice tutorial today from Builder.com on the subject of formatting pages without using tables, but it raised this question in my mind. In the article the author demonstrates using the float attribute in CSS to make DIVs behave like table columns. He identified each DIV with an ID tag rather than assigning each element a class, as I'm accustomed to doing. What's the difference, and what advantage is there to using IDs instead of Classes for CSS?

IDs are appropriate when the CSS performs positioning. Otherwise, classes are better, because they can be re-used by multiple items.

I suppose that by combining them, giving each element a different ID and assigning them to classes for common characterstics in the way they're designed to be used.

I agree with your opinion, but I would like to add that Unique ID styles are not appropriate only for providing positioning. I would express it as such, they should just be used where the HTML element using the unique style is unique within the page.

Watch out for the DIV Table replacement junk. I have heard that for years, but the problem is that the browsers handle things differently with CSS, DIV and FLOAT, causing some of them to have different appearances. I still use tables to format things that will have more than two columns since it is more reliable method cross browsers.

I had some code years ago which extented your internet explorer. This added an option to right click anywhere on a page and it would show all the linked images on a page in a new html page, full size.
i.e. you got a page with a thumbnail and that is linked to a images by the image tag. By selecting the option you get to see all of the full size images in a new page.
Very usefull if you have a site thats got a lot of thumbnails that links to the full image

The transaction processing application is to be developed in Java
The application reads a master and a transactions file containing data on
the number of hits received by respective departments in a super-store. The
department hits are generated when people interact with an online Information Kiosk
to find the department location in the super-store.
Specifications
Requirements details for this application are given below:
1. The master file contains data on the total year to date hits received by each
department and has the following format:

(Note: ‘b’ stands for a blank, and the number 3 in the first record of the file
shows the number of departments, numDepts)
2. The transaction file contains data on the hits received on a given day and looks

3. The user should be able to invoke the application in two ways:
by passing no command-line parameters.
by passing two command-line parameters specifying the input file names, for

4. When no parameters are passed, the application would use MASTER.TXT and
TRANS.TXT as default file names for the master and the transaction file
respectively.
5. Once invoked, the application reads the master transaction file and creates an
array of department objects. A department object has two instance variables:
the deptName and the hitsReceivedCounter. In addition, it has methods that
perform the following tasks:
read department data from a master file
get the deptName
get the number of hitsRreceivedCounter
increment the number of hitsReceivedCounter
write department data to a new file
6. Next, the application reads the transaction file and increments the
hitsReceivedCounter of the relevant department objects in the array.
7. Finally, a suitable output stream is opened and the updated objects use it to
write their data to a new file called UPDATED.TXT. Note that this file has
exactly the same format as the master file.

problem:
I'm developing a isapi, and i want to unload it automatically from memory, to make my developing time less painfull (avoid iisreset on every build)
the prob is that i oncheck the "cache ISAPI extentions" , reboot the server, but the isapi remains in memory after called
it worked on IIS5 , but now Im using IIS6 and i cant get it to work.

I'm writing an ASP application which connects to an Access 2003 database. When I try to insert a record, I get the following error:
-2147467259 Operation must use an updateable query.
This is the first time that I get this error, maybe it's got to do with security of access 2003. Not sure. I do not kow why I get this error. I think it is write permissions from IIS. I do not not know what to do.
