There isn't a way to receive window messages without having the window created. The most simple way of doing this is to create the window as a modeless dialog and then do a ShowWindow(SW_HIDE) straight after creation. I use hidden windows in lots of apps for processing Windows and custom messages.

let me explain my problem.
i am creating the window service(which is desktop interractive).i am also created Winlogon dll which notify me that some user is logged on or logged on the Work Station.
now problem arise to comuunicate between these two services i am using RegisterWindowMessage to pass information.
here the problem arise the Service can't receive a until dialog is displayed in case of modol dialog
and the in case of modelless dialog ,from wher i will get the desktop window pointer,without that it will not going to listen my registered message.
i think i have explained my problem

ps(socket create some problem in winlogon,so i can't use socket to sned or recieve message)

Long post. I dont quite understand exactly what u need. But, if all you want to do is recv a message in a service, from another of your services', you dont need to create a window or dialog.
One service will use PostThreadMessage() to post a message, and another will simply run a thread with a GetMessage() loop.

Frankly, I have not read the whole discussion. But from what I gather, all u need is the service's proc id, which the func i mentioned, will give u.
Dont be afraid to share ur code with others, Alok. You are still in a nascent stage, so dont try and protect your "wonderful" code at this stage. You have a lot to learn.
I see your english is not too good, well, I am sure i can give u a solution to your problem if u do speak in Hindi.
But in any case, It is wonderful to see you trying. Most people are afradi of admitting their lack of english knowledge, so kudos to you !!
Besides, remember that your approach to the problem is not the best one always ! Always attempt to present your porblem, rather than ask advice on what you *think* is the solution to your problem! Remember that always when posting to message boards !!

Basically i am recently faced critics about my system application,so i must assure it working properly before posting on CP.
Basically many programmer on CP are Raw,so any System S/w may damage there system if not handle with care.
that why i write i will mail you my code if you want.

I just created a new project MyTestProj.
I went to Project->Properties->Configuration Properties
The Property Pages are all blanks ! - can't make any changes.

The steps were:
File->New->Project->Visual C++ Projects->MFC->MFC Application
(Project named MyTestProj, Dialog Based)
Project->Properties->Configuration Properties...
Everything is BLANK ? tried changing Configuration/Platform/Configuration Manager but still all blanks.
Any ideas would be much appreciated !
(I desparately need to turn off using Precompiled Headers)

How can I create an Active Document Server that is in-place activated? (Like a Word document added to a project opens in-place in Visual Studio). Using MFC AppWizard and creating a full automation server, it still opens in a separate executable.

Hi all, What is the best way to print inside MFC (Visual 2002). I have tried TextOut but that sucks because every printer is different. I am getting the idea that MFC can't do a very good job of printer because of limited functions? hopefully, its my limited knowledge.

I'm sad to say that it is your limited knowledge 
With GetDeviceCaps, you can get the resolution for the output media (be it screen or printer). You can use the value - compared with that of the screen - to scale your drawing and font creation.
For text only, you can also create fonts in typographical points - CreatePointFont and CreatePointFontIndirect.
Finally, you might want to set the mapping mode to one of the physical coordinate systems - see SetMapMode on MSDN.

It's not much different from working with the screen, actually. The big problem is designing drawing code that makes no assumptions regarding the output resolution.

My question concerns the setting of controls on "not-yet visited" property pages.
I have a PropertySheet dialog with 3 property pages. I have followed the common convention of creating this property sheet as found here at CP and also in the MSDN Library. The operation of this works good and I would say the creation of the Sheet/Pages is good too, except for what I want to do.
I am reading an external config file (text) and would like to pre-load my pages with values read from the config file. I can do this for the first page with no problems. When I try to load values into controls on other pages, it crashes with undefined window handles. HOWEVER, if I visit each page first and then pre-load my pages, everything is fine - what gives???
I have tried to circumvent the OnInitDialog() for each page, but this proved unsuccessful - same results.
Can anyone help me with what I want to do?
