Currently regardless of how much of a contribution any given user of the site gives, they will all eventually go gold just due to time. Now the difference between gold and platinum is 25 articles, which is no mean feat to achieve. I think you should have a 3-way ranking system, for example xyz which would be x - number of years registered with the site, y - the number of messages posted (as per standard message counts), z - The numer of articles posted. This will allow people to be identified by how much of a contribution to the site they give. So applying the rules to me would put me as 3GG (I think) So if (when) I turn platinum I will be worth 3GP! I forgot, you have a hard time with algebra.... You can be get Gold status simply by posting 500 messages and being a member here for one year. That's why Roger is suggesting more granularity. So it could be easily seen, that a member is Gold for article count, or Gold for posting 500 messages and being here for a year. Its possible to get to Gols with 1 message posted and 3 years with NO articles. Thats a difference of 25 articles! You will have to wait until Chris or one of the other admins runs it before your evel change takes effect. To be a supporter you have to buy a product such a MSDN universal through CP. You get the next level each 500 posts, but you get bronze at the beginning of the first 500, not at the end. A kind of incentive.
