i think heath stewart is not the only active guy on CP. we are more than 1 million registered CP-ers, so where is the problem ? isn't IRC principle about talking ?

When publishing a new article, I would like to have an option of preventing it to show up in the "Latest Best Picks" list. Why? The reason is quite simple: I don't want my articles to get voted down just so they are removed from the list.
I write C++ articles for the Mobile / Embedded section, a considerably small portion of the CP readers. What happens is that some of my first voters tend to vote 5, which automatically brings my articles to the dreaded Latest Best Picks list. From this point on, the article starts to get voted down, until it exits the list. Suddenly, voting stops. Fishy, right? The article is being voted down just to be removed from the list.
Actually, this is kind of fair. The article does not belong there anyway. What bothers me is that I get the feeling that ratings do not reflect what readers think about the article. If I had an option of choosing not to allow the article on the list, ratings might better reflect what the interested readers think about it.

Don't care for ratings, they are just as useless as the "member status".
A statistic of how many people have downloaded the source archive would say much more about how good the article is.
So my suggestion is...
... replace the ratings with a download counter

this is more of a rant I guess, but
Visual C++ forum is becoming so active I can never get a response to a question I have becuz it becomes flooded with newbie questions minutes later and my question get pushed to the bottom of the barrel...
So I say...anyone posting there with less than 1000 posts...get's posted in another fourm...Visual C++ for newbies (or something)...and any experienced programmer who isn't already a member or who hasn't built up a message post history will just have to do so...
My solution for the worlds problems right there

It is more likely that nobody has a answer or that the question has been poorly worded. There are a lot of hard-working people who spend a lot of time looking through all the posts.

I have noticed that if your in a form your number of items to display stays focus so when you hit the MessageBoards drop down you get a big fat number in the in it covering up part of the dropdowns contents. I'm not sure if that happens on all forms or not but I was in the soapbox and hit messageboards and i gotta big 50 in the dropdown.

Again, this is a known but with IE and the combo box. It has been covered in this message board (and in the Lounge) already. There has already been several suggestions about how to fix it as well.

There's nothing you can do to fix this in IE. It has to be a site change. If you don't like it, try using Mozilla or Firefox.
