Hello,

Sorry to bother you all but i am experiencing a little nasty problem and since i am quite a newbie to MFC programming, i really don't know where to go to find a solution by myself.

I have a project of mine, developed under windows xp pro / visual c++ .net 2003. When i compile the program and make a setup for it, everything works fine as long as my application runs under windows xp / windows 2000 / windows NT. If the application is installed under windows ME / 98, the visual c++ runtime complains reporting an enigmatic error:

Runtime Error!

Program C:\......

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

For me that means that the runtime provided with visual c++ 2003 is not compatible with the latter systems. Unfortunately this program has to run on both platforms.

Is there a way to instruct visual studio to create an executable in a sort of "compatibility mode" or "retro mode", which will produce an executable that can be run under windows 98? It is even ok to have two separate installers (one for 2000/xp and one for 98/me) as long as the installed program will run.

If there is no way to do that how could i solve the problem?

THX Smile | :)
