Hello everybody,
Does anybody know, how I can convert an in-proc server project written in ATL 3.0 (VC++ 6.0) to local server (exe version) or vice versa?
I mean that what changes, I have to make to the project settings and maybe to the source code and/or other files in the project? I have seen a sample project "ADOSAMP" that has several project settings for building dll or exe versions.

To convert inproc to out of proc you cant do it by project settings.
You need to construct new project as ATL exe service, If you inproc server is using MFC then lot of troblem (coz ATL-exe service by default does not suppor MFC, you need to add MFC support manually)
Then add all the files that you have added to the dll, like .h ,.cpp,.idl fiels to the new workspace and little changes in each new .h.cpp file about the #includes will let you migrate,
But frankly its very laborious thing to do.. but this is the way to be done.

Hi,
I've created a console application and want to hide the (console) window when the app. is started. I know you can achieve this by calling 'ShellExecute', but that's not what i want. I remember i did this at one point by using '#pragma comment (linker , *bladiebla*)'. I don't exactly remember the rest, but i think it was something like that. Can anbody help me out here?

forgettaboutit.....already found it... '#pragma comment(linker, "/subsystem:\"windows\" /entry:\"mainCRTStartup\"")'...this works just fine.

You can do the same thing in project settings->link/catagory output Entry-point symbol.

i don't understand the problem but here is a solution may be it is what u want
from ur program load another program in YOUR memory not by ShellExecute or anything simply read the file and store the contents
then simply do a jump to that address
_asm jmp (wherever u want)
don't forget to call jmp or ret from the loaded code to ur own code so u can exit properly

I dont thing this is going to work with exe files, for exe file you need to recalculate the far calls present in the exe file also rebasing problem needs to be taken care...
Your solution is rite but for .COM files.

i don't see any mention of exe or any com file , The program in memory can be just a chunk of asm instructions not necessarily an exe in PE format ,
Still the PE Header of the Executable can be patched accordingly to match the Loaded DLL's in memory

The guy did not mention that how he had loaded the code into the memory. If assumed that he had loaded using readfile then no way he can execute the PE file or .exe file. But a .COM file can be exectued but dont know how it is going to function in windows envirionment.
Plus, lot of things are not known like was the stack, process id, sperate LDT, etc allocated for the code that has been loaded.
Over all according to me the Question is quite nonsence. Why anyone wants to play god when windows is there. Only person i can think of are virus writers.they want to imitate the OS to do some background job.

How do you load the pop-up (child) dialog before the program like the login screen?

How do I exit program when it only load the child dialog? either click OK or CANCEL for the X box, it still load the Main program. I try to use DestroyWindow() function but it give error.

I have a socket i am using normal blocking sockets (brekley sockets). I want to know before i call recv wheather it will become a blocking one or not. so that the socket dont block at that instance coz it is causing threading locking.
Is there any way to provide a timeout to the sockets..
i am not using MFC and so mfc CSocket is not a solution.

Hi,
I have a CScrollView set up in one pane of an MDI splitterwindow application.
I would like the user to be able to scroll the view by clicking inside the CScrollView then dragging the mouse outside the client area. To see an example of what I mean, load up ms excel, click on a cell, then drag outside the child window (or outside the main frame of the application).
I thought I could do this by using "onmousemove" messages, calculating which way the user has dragged, and scrolling accordingly, but unfortunately I can't receive mouse coordinates when the user is outside the client area, and I only want the scrolling to occur when the user has dragged off the side of the CScrollView.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks for your time.

You can use OnMouseMove() but you'll have to call SetCapture() first to capture the mouse input. Make sure you call ReleaseCapture() when you've finished.

When I do what u suggest, I got error which says _T is not defined integer.

Try adding
#include <tchar.h>
after the #include for windows.h

i just want to know if this is possible to have another View Class in MDI and make some Child window that uses this View Class.
for example a list classes in a MDI:
CChildFrame
CMainFrame
CMyDoc
CMyView -> base class are CView
CMy2View -> i added this View Class that its base is not the same as CMyView base class and i want to have a Child Window that use this view class.
is this possible or any suggestion?
