I've found the what can be taken for granted in Win IE must be explicitly defined in Mac IE, like positions and height/width of elements.
Good luck

Tell me about it. How can the same software be so different

IE5 on the Mac is an upgraded engine from IE5 on the PC. It uses the Tasman engine which has better standards support than what IE5 for PC uses.
Technically, it is a better browser than IE5 on the PC. In real world practice, we all just wish they had ported it byte for byte.

yes it will be different when we go for different operating systems. bcos each OS has its won default settings.
In Windows OS for .NEt Applications we should use only I.E5.5. and above but in the MAC OS we can use I.E5.0...u can see differnt here itself...
so according to the OS we have ti chnage our GUI alignments..
This is what i thought.is any thing wrong plz correct me
thanks for thr reply.

Yes, you can dynamically add items to a list or select box using JavaScript -- although you will have to discover whether or not those items can be enumerated by the code on the server in order to store them to a database when the page is posted back.

|
|
|
|
usually what u do is run a script on the server that pulls data out of the db and use that to make the html page on the fly using the data u got from the db

Hi,
I have a web application on IIS 5 that has been working with Annoymous login. Now when I log onto the web site, it request network authenication. Anonymous login is enabled and integrate windows authentication is checked. It is using iusr_<username> and allow IIS to manage password. iusr_<username> has log on locally rights under local security. Does anyone know what is going on. The wierd part is that when I log onto the default.asp page, it does not ask for network authenication. It's after I log in, then it asks me for it. I thought it was the object that it was creating, but I tried a test page and it does not seem to be the case. Let me know if any of you have an idea of what I can check. Thanks,

I use VS.NET to create the layouts of all my pages. Once I am done I view them in IE and they look just the way I wanted them to. But when I fire up Netscape Browser and look at the same file then everything is out of place and messed up.
For instance using 's in CSS I could get everything center aligned in IE but I had to use tag in my code to have it center aligned in Netscape. Not to mention that even after doing that everything that was set to "relative" position in my CSS file was messed up again.
Is there a simpler solution for this problem?

Sorry about that I guess I shouldn't have used "div" inside the tag...but here's the message in a cleaner format:

Hey everyone,
I posted something awhile ago about this, but not sure about it. I am looking for a web interface for my pop3 mail server. I have a mail server running sendmail and qpopper. I need a web interface to access these accounts. I am trying out squirrlmail, which looks good but it seems to be for IMAP accounts. Does anyone know if this works for pop3 (because it isn't working for me yet) and is there any other options out there that will work with pop3 accounts?
Thanks!

You could use iMail; it's free for personal use. I know that it runs on Windows, but I'm not sure whether there are versions for other platforms.

These seems like a server software that would replace something like Microsoft Exchange server. I am looking more for a web front end for my sendmail server.
Thanks

Hi
Ive written a PERL script and want a simple GUI for it.
Ive started doing it in HTML and hoped to be able to cut and paste data in, press calculate and then be presented with the findings.
How do i get data from a html forms text box, into my perl script?? Ive searched the web put everyone wants to use cgi. This wouldnt work without a web server would it?
Thanks!!

If you want your Perl script to be executed from a web browser, you'll need to have it as a CGI script on a web server -- that's just how things work.
If you want to build a standalone GUI for your app, there are a number of toolkits with Perl bindings you can use to construct the GUI: Win32::GUI, Gtk, Qt, Tk, etc. Since you know HTML already, you may be interested in the Tk::HTML[^] module.

Hi all,
I have an interesting problem that I can't seem to get past.
In my web application, I need to create a dynamic array that contains the field names and values to pass to a database. (The value array is not a problem) The field names on the form are numerically named, 1,2,3,4 and so on. I am trying to make the array output this :
aTextFieldName(1) = Request.Form("1")
aTextFieldName(2) = Request.Form("2")
etc...
where the "number" is created on the fly
iColumnTotal = 5
For i = 1 to iColumnTotal
aTextFieldName(i) = request.Form(i)
Next
My problem is getting the number to display inside of the Request.Form brackets with the quotes. This works fine when I hard code it. I have tried escaping the quotes with chr(34)
request.Form(chr(34) & i & chr(34))
but that doesn't work, double quotes causes an error
request.Form(""i"")
and simply putting the variable without quotes won't work either.
request.Form(i)
Any of you geniuses out there have a solution?
Thanks
Doug

Ok your problems is a lack of understanding of how quotes work within strings. Whenever you create a string expression on the fly, it always needs to be encased in quotes (of course), so when you need a quotation mark inside the string, you have to tell vbscript that it's a quote mark and not the end of the string. You do this with a double quote. So if you have a quote mark at the start of the string, you'll end up with three quotes. So what you need to do is:
request.Form("""" & i & """")
i.e. open quote to start string, double quote to signify a quote mark and not the end of the string, then a quote to close the string.

Hi
I Think you need to get the value from your form after the sumbition. Can you try the below script to read your posted values.
request.from("&i&")
As simple as to pass the value in recordset.
