I have a Dell GX1 next to my desk currently doing nothing. It has a Celeron 466Mhz CPU, 320MB SD-RAM, SB PCI64 and 2 x 6.4 GB Quantum HDD's I have managed top shoehorn in. I have a copy of Red Hat 9 sitting here which I plan to install. I'm doing this for the experience since my computer related job is hoping to start installing Linux servers in several of their SME clients.

I want to use this server to run mail, FTP, web and file sharing servers for my internal network. I wouldn't mind trying to get it to mimic some Primary Domain Controller functions as well.

From my minimal experience with the wizard installs of Red Hat it creates 3 partitions

boot - 100MB approx.
swap - 2 x RAM approx.
root - whats left on the HDD.

Since I am running 2 HDD's I need to split the partitions for best usage. It makes sense to me that I would put boot and root on HDD-1 while swap and some other partition would go on HDD-2. To do this I would have to manually create the partitions but have no idea what other partition I can create.

Anyone have opinions or links on the best partition split for my 2 HDD's?
Anyone know if it is possible to use a Linux server for Windows PDC purposes?
Any recommendations on what extra packages I should look at installing besides those automatically selected by the Server install?

A Windows Server is out of the question financially. If you insist being a twat and telling me to use Windows 2003 Server by alls means purchase one on my behalf and send it too me. I will provide my PO Box for your convenience.
