I don't necessarily disagree with you about the advantages of "unplugging" - I just don't think the majority of people would agree so easily.

I have an Android phone and use Google Search, Gmail and WhatsApp.

The last three are all easily replaceable. The first is less so, but then I only use a tiny subset of the features in Android. A phone O/S and ecosystem that would answer my needs could be much simpler than Android.

So the EU is trying to eliminate the "if you aren't paying for the product you are the product" concept. Europeans will end up paying for "free" internet services as a result. They aren't going to like this.

Interesting. Many embedded USB readers also limit their ability to read USB drives formatted as FAT to 32 GB. It would be a mistake to change this limit in the Windows UI.
