How I knew I was OLD
As a hospital Pharmacist we use Calculators to do Pharmacokinetics dosing values
This was before I had hand held devices like a Palm Pilot
I had a young pharmacy intern and handed her the calculator and said calculate a dose
When she used the calculator with a furry just typing with her thumbs
I knew I was old
When I asked why do you use your thumbs She replied
I learned to do that with my Flip Phone

I've always thought it's unfortunate that the scene could've been so much more realistic if Scotty had at least struggled a bit at first to figure out whatever application that was. Unless Starfleet is still using that same program, same version, on an Apple II, and Scotty's already familiar with it...?
But hey, since when does Hollywood make realistic use of computers?

A small incident regarding this from my junior developer days, in the late nineties:
Our team had developed a Windows application, but somehow the screen used to vanish when ESC was pressed. Our manager came for a hands-on demo session, and we kept praying that his fingers should not go to the ESC button. Luckily this ESC was far away, and the demo went well, and our team escaped from an ESC button fiasco. Later our team fixed the issue.

I almost fell of my chair when I read the comment from the OP asking for help in typing faster in the referenced post - Suggestions in text area[^]
So the solution given was -
Quote: Press ESC and it will ignore all it's suggestions - then you can press TAB without an insert.
Or you can disable Intellisense in "Tools ... Options .... Text Editor ... Your prefered language ... Intellisense ... Show completion list after a character is typed"

They were writing an article for school on the health benefits of a pESCatarian diet.
A bit of confusion had them think ESC should be typed as a single unit with a single key.
This was never going well no matter where the key had been located.

During a demo using pretty much the latest technologies, I once got the feedback "This new software feels like we're going back to the 80's! We've got touch screens now and we're going back to mouses?!"
"No, you'll get touch screens, but we didn't have one available for this demo."
"Oh, well in that case it looks really neat!"

Boot one core.
Using that core, inject code for the second core into memory, and then cajole the 2nd core into executing it.
Enable a message passing system between the cores.
I have 128KB to implement the main logic of this app on the 2nd core, because the rest of the memory is devoted to visualizations on the primary core. and the 2nd core has to expose a composite USB device.

Yeah, just straight C. I didn't want to deal with getting NXP's toolchain to host C++ libs and stuff. I know it can, but LVGL is C anyway.
I'm under NDA so I can't really share much. This is all R&D for a work project, but the code flow is actually pretty simple. The workflow is basically using MCUxpresso IDE.
It's all cooperatively threaded, with the exception of the core to core interaction, which is handled by an ersatz mutex and a simple message passing scheme based on shared memory.
The M7 runs in a simple master loop, processing a bunch of visualization data and sending it out to the LCD panels.
The M4 handles core logic of the app, and communication with the outside world via USB HID.
The M7 basically is a visualization engine. The M4 tells it what to display and the M7 displays it.
Despite the M7 being logically slaved to the master in terms of flow, it's actually technically the master, in that it's the one that boots initially and kicks everything off. The reason is that its part of the whole mess requires the most memory and flash resources, so to me it made sense to package the smaller payload (the M4 code) and inject *that* into memory, if that makes sense.
