Looking at the Lounge page, on the left hand side it shows me "* indicates new messages since 10 Mar 13:40". Looking at the clock, it's only 12:40. I'm assuming this is just a DST awareness issue?

Look at this thread in The Lounge[^].
The first reply was from a now-deleted troll account. Jeremy replied to the troll, and I replied to Jeremy with "DNFTT".
The troll's reply has now disappeared, leaving the thread looking like Jeremy was talking to himself.
Another user saw my reply, thought it was an oblique reference to their comments in a previous thread on the same topic, and took offence at the thought that I was calling him a troll. 
If the "message removed" message was still there, it might have avoided this confusion.
Obviously we don't want pages of "message removed" messages lying around. But if there are replies that haven't been removed yet, I think some form of "message removed" indicator should still be shown.

The message disappearing is probably due to the user deciding to delete their post, I think...
Perhaps what is required is to not allow a delete when a post has replies?

Maybe delete the message content and keep the message head, with a default "This post was deleted" text or something?

That was before like this, and we ended with pages of forums full of "message removed" every time our lovely spam-buggers sent a new wave. After that this new methode was introduced.
For me... hanging messages could go to oblivion too, the biggest part of time is not "relevant enough to keep".

Alternatively, keep an "x message(s) removed" placeholder message in the tree unless all replies have also been removed or deleted.
But of course, it's easy to suggest such things - we don't know how much blood, sweat, and swearing the implementation would cause for Chris.

I agree, show some info of a deleted message to clear any confusion.
The way I understand it is that when a profile is deleted, all messages linked to that profile is as well, maybe where the mishap came in?

We've all seen posts in QA where code blocks are littered with ="" decorations. The usual response has been to assume that the OP has done something wrong when cutting and pasting the code. But I have an example here where there is no cut/paste operation being used, and still the ="" decoration appears:
In this case, it seems to be something to do with the octothorpe (#), the forward slash (/) and possibly the < and > symbols as well. Maybe there's an issue in the markdown processing?

I've been bitten a couple of times. I work around it by replacing the literal < with the encoding <.
(Both encoded another level as I type this, of course!)

My company has recently strengthened its email spam blocking algorithms, and as a result the Code Project Daily Insider is not getting through to me. My system admin says the email "is non-compliant and incomplete and we can't process it...It is missing a message-id and, more importantly, a recipient...I suspect they're doing something with BCC which makes me think it's some super old code that doesn't properly manage user emails...Google/Hotmail/etc. are typically more lax on these standards, though they have announced crackdowns coming soon, so who knows what that will lead to, but right now, our servers are not getting enough information to deliver the message." We use ProofPoint to inspect and filter email messages before they hit our servers, and it's also possible ProofPoint is doing something to the message before we see it.
This is how the messages are coming into our firewall:
If anyone has suggestions on what can be done to fix this problem, it would be much appreciated.

I noticed twice that a thread has irrelevant answers listed under it and the title is different. In both cases it happened when the post it was answering to has been deleted due to abuse/trolling.
