I've actively avoided social media. I have enough useless activities (games  )of my own to want to waste time on social media. Making comments on a couple different forums is about as social as I get on line.

I use Pi-Hole to block ads, and there's a number of Facebook properties that automatically get blocked. I've also manually added *.facebook.com, so even if I tried to reach it - the whole site is blocked. And as they say, nothing of value was lost...

Same. CP is probably the one site where I'm the most active. I also have an account on Discord, but I only use it to talk to very specific people.

I like Pi-Hole a lot, even if only for the fact that all devices on my network go through it, so even phones and tablets (provided you set them up to specify it as a preferred DNS) get all the crap blocked. And a single point for defining the blacklist/whitelist.

I quit FB about 2 years ago and don't miss them a bit. I wasn't on any of the others so there is no problem there!

So did I. I couldn't believe how many people unfriended me just for things I liked. I rarely posted but apparently just liking something is too extreme for some people. Oh well. I don't miss it.

Twitter? I have the theory that every tweet sent has the potential to reduce IQ. The people who post frequently (and vehemently) on Twitter (X) are strong evidence in favor this theory, although many didn't have a lot to start with.
And the individual posts should be called "twits", not "tweets", as "twit" is a far more fitting name.

Sorry to hear that.
I'm not really one to speak about relationships (I'm very much single and that's what floats my boat), but based on what I keep reading, social media is NOT a viable alternative for "real" human contact - people are now said to have more "friends" than ever, but feel the loneliest they've ever felt. That's the irony.
As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing social about social media. Those are not your friends.

The only constant "social" media for me is the lounge.
Facebook droped around 15 years ago, got into it again 10 years ago to find some lost people and try to get in contact with them and droped it again some months later. Last 10 years only there for 8 to 10 times in total because I searched for something concrete that was not offered in other places.
LinkedIn no account ever.
Twitter no account ever.
all other staff... no account. Might have had one in a couple of places (i.e. XING), but got deleted due innactivity.

I've only ever used FB but I have a very small friends list (less than 50) which consists solely of family and people I am in-person friends with. Everything I do and post is "private to friends only". We use it strictly to keep in touch with each other and share what's going on. We keep it rather civilized and avoid the subjects that we know, from our personal contact, tend to annoy each other.
That served me well for many years, but the past 6 months or so ... FB is getting way too aggressive in the ads they keep throwing in my feed. The content itself isn't bad, and I see why they think I might like this s*$t, given my activity but ... enough already. I can always tell when my "don't show me this crap" response to every ad starts to wear off every month or so. 3 weeks of a reasonable feed and then a week of having to block all the crap. Unfortunately, this is the simplest way to keep in touch with the folks who have moved away.
Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors - and miss.

When I turned 50 FB decided I am a pervert and started sending me ads to make it with 20 year old girls. I shared a picture of people dressed in pumpkins and got a ban for nudity but I get ads for insane s3x toys. My wife threw me out 3 years ago and I held it together on the basis I visit every few weeks. I use FB to talk to her and used it this morning to apply to join a band. I stopped using FB seriously 10 years ago when they allowed a far right wing gang to stalk and threaten my kids. I just kind of prod at it now

I have a collection of screenshots from Walmart ads of adult toys that would make a "insert person of choice here" blush. I think it's partly my fault though. I started screwing with their ad algorithms by clicking on everything to see what would happen.
My latest is checking the Walmart price of Sriracha daily as it shows up in my feed to watch the prices and how that changes. Hint, up on the weekends, down during the week. Sidenote, I never shop at Walmart.

Same. I scroll through and will see 3 ads and 5 suggested posts before I ever see one from someone on my friends list. And to make that worse, it's often days old so its often irrelevant.

I quit Twitter when it became X. But I keep Facebook. It helps me normalize my strange hobbies. I can show my wife a photo of somebody with a closet full of (24) unicycles and explain that only having 5 isn't a big deal. Same thing with my canoe/kayak addition. I also use it to connect to community events to get in and out.
As a general rule, I block any group that was shared in a post. This keeps my feed clean(er). I really only want original content from my friends and family.

I live with my elderly dad, not my wife. Lego is my one stress relief. Building the AT&T walker right now. My estimate is low because I started buying knock off lego, mostly because I got sick of all the missing pieces. Also I can get some out of print sets, like the Death Star.

I loved Lego as a kid, and keep reading about adults still using them as a hobby. I've often thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun if I went back to that myself.

Years ago I used to play The Sims 2, not for the gameplay, but because of the building opportunities the game engine presented. I had houses that had such design complexity they pushed the game, I believe, to its limits, but even then, I thought it was too restrictive. I could never get into Sims 3, and never tried Sims 4. "Real" home building software is just too complex for my liking.
I think there's a real need for some creative outlet. Lego might fulfill that, to some extent, but it just gets crazy expensive if you're serious about it.
I've seen some software decades ago that let you work with virtual Lego, so to speak, but found the controls to be way too difficult to be useful.
