I've read that this latest attack was such a zero-day attack. For this to be able to happen, it seems that the hackers need inside information on what's in the software to make the attack payload.

It's just a flaw that has been spotted before the authors know about it.

So a net sniffer that spots unencrypted data transfer for example could lead to identifying a weak spot that could potentially be exploited. Then start poking the software with a stick and see what happens ... Laugh | :laugh:

It does not require an insider. Prolly not even a sniffer. Most service providers are happy to brag about where their software is installed.

OneDrive Weird behavior

I'm upgrading the HDD. I created a "Backup" folder in local disk & moved all the pile of files & folders and centralized there. Then I enabled "OneDrive" sync for this folder. OneDrive service automatically started uploading all the files to Cloud Disk. This is all great.

Now the problem.
I'm not able to copy this whole bunch of files from the OneDrive folder , in my local computer to any other destination folder in the same local computer or to an external USB Storage.

When I select the folder and copy, and paste, it visually simulates a copy/paste as it's moving 10 GB data in a flash, but in the destination folder I see nothing actually moved.

I tried closing OneDrive Sync service. No use, same gimmick happening , it just fakes up the copy/paste. Such a bad experience! D'Oh! | :doh:

PS: File-by-File or Single Folder copy paste is working , but how on earth I could navigate to a thousand folder and copy files one by one ? Whenever a folder structure is nested, is not working.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
When you want to take a back up of your files, first complete the USB/Local transfer before you fiddle with Cloud backup.

Well, coming from someone else this would sound weird. But since I am the Lord of weirdness, I will suggest it anyway.

FWIIW: When I (programmatically) stored some spreadsheets in a OneDrive folder, they couldn't be opened in Excel with a double click. The result was a "not found" kind of error. So, I created a symlink to that OneDive folder and that solved my problem. Weird.

We've been adopted by a young outdoor cat, she is very lovable, she found where the food is and how to extract it at her whim.

Only thing we can figure a feral cat that trained us at an early age. She was very skiddish at first but has warmed up quickly. Wonder what she will think of us after we take her in to get spayed and shots?

It's a good idea - if they run away / escape the car / etc., a vet can scan the animal and call you.

And on this side of the pond, animal theft has increased by 170% during Covid as the demand has been so high. A chipped pet can be returned to you if the new owner takes it to a vet for shots.

OK, so I have this problem caused by a credit card issuer. Like most organizations, I have made establishing blame the highest priority.

We must do that before finding any potential solution(s).

Problem: I have a very seldom used credit card. Almost every month, the bank sends me a statement for $0.00. It even lists all my purchases for that month (a grid with no rows other than the heading). The fact they are spending money paying for printing and mailing is not my concern so much as the fact that I have to dispose of the paper statement containing my account number.

So, who is to blame? The developers who ignored the account balance of zero and printed it anyway? Or the PTB that fear retribution if they don't tell the account holder that they owe nothing? They never asked me if I wanted such a statement. The requirements/specifications statement? Don't be silly, who ever heard of such a thing?

Now, before you tell me that e statements don't cost anything, herself is not into e thingies and understands that we are not really killing trees because crazy wood trees that are raised for making paper are a crop. When I check out, she will need paper so I keep it going.

BTW: If you have never been in a paper mill (I have, many times), they smell really, really bad and pollute stuff, thus a staunch contributor to our every day society. Maybe an argument I should use to get them to stop sending me zero dollar statements. Zero dollars converts to zero euro's and zero quid for you right ponders.
