Just stumbled upon this book and I'm shocked that it was just published in Nov. 2020.

The way I see is:

Delphi is still relevant in some countries. I know in Brazil they have a large and active community.
They have put some efforts to attract new users, like teaching Delphi on Universities and looks like now they a free version.

I've seen people complaining about their licensing strategy and cost of that, and bug on their IDE specially when you compare to other tools.

I worked with Delphi for many years, definitely I can say it is the fastest way to build desktop windows LOB apps. But when it comes to well know standard support features/frameworks like DI containers, Mock, ORM, some JSON we see in other platforms (.net, java) it was a bit behind (at least when I worked with).

Delphi has a niche, there's no tool that covers all possible scenarios, so experienced developers use the best for a determined job.
