I'm still clinging to my first HP keyboard from '98. I've had this keyboard for my entire 20+ year career. Lately, I've got a few keys that have started sticking...time for a bi-annual deep cleaning...maybe I can get a few more years out of it!

The seller has only one other product[^], which is just as much of a bargain, but it's a shame because I was hoping to get a second-hand Amstrad keyboard for under 5k.

I used one of those... About 30 years ago, when I was programming in PL/1 on an IBM mainframe using the ISPF environment. I was developing a CCITT Group 3 image decompressor - strange how some things stick in your head...
And after that, I started using VAX/VMS - and DEC had good keyboards as well... It wasn't until I started using PCs in the late 90s that keyboard quality was something that I noticed - because they all had dreadful dome switch keyboards... I use my Filco Majestouch (brown Cherry MX switches) exclusively now...
Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

Worked on DEC machines for quite a few years, good machines.

Me: Maybe I'm just too demanding?
Therapist: We've been over this before...
Me: Or maybe I'm just like my father, too bold? Or maybe I'm too cold? Or could it be that I'm just like my mother? She's too sensitive and never knew.....
Therapist: Get out

after many otherwise intelligent sounding suggestions that achieved nothing the nice folks at Technet said the only solution was to low level format my hard disk then reinstall my signature. Sadly, this still didn't fix the issue!

Same here, I used to watch it dubbed into French in the late 70's and early 80's and it was one of my favourite tv shows at the time.

I'm trying to cleanup this LL(k) table builder code that i ported from Javascript to C# and it's a nightmare. It's as disorganized as my desk. There are global-ish fields everywhere and very few comments.
Plus I don't understand how it actually works. I just ported it is all. I haven't dissected it and it's very difficult to do so - basically it would be an exercise in software forensics.
The code I'm porting was produced by two graduate students, and while they built something I couldn't, and so props to them for that, they did so with the most horrible code I've seen since the last time I reviewed an academic's code.
Is it that universities can't teach people to write clean software? Or do I just have terrible luck finding it?
