MS completely rebuilt the Trident rendering engine, now called EdgeHTML, and still managed to come up with the worst HTML5 standards compliance, until later versions anyway.

I just saw Masters of the Universe[^] last week (birthday joke for a friend) and now comes this announcement[^].
Was I waiting for more He-Man? No.
Am I disappointed that Lundgren is not mentioned? Also no.
I'll sure as hell be watching it though

Our birthday presents started out as "wrong movies", but quickly grew into cool trilogies (and later just anything with multiple installments).
I can't even remember what started it, but we've given each other stuff like RoboCop, Mad Max, Jurassic Park, Oceans, Rocky, Rambo, Back To The Future, Ghostbusters, Taken, John Wick...
It's getting harder to find good movies we haven't seen yet.
But stuff like Masters Of The Universe, TMNT and Flash Gordon (there, I just found two movies that were at least as bad!) will always keep a special place in our hearts

Flash Gordon was made this way deliberately. They wanted to have the look and style of the 1930s comics. Anything else would have been a big mistake.

Even then it was particularly bad
I haven't read the comics, so maybe the comics were just really bad.
Maybe 30's plots and scripts were really bad.
But man, what a bad movie that was.
Yet, somehow it still entertains
Great soundtrack though.
Compare that with an average Uwe Boll movie, they're bad and DON'T entertain...

If remember correctly Mattel tried to do an end run around to get a licence before the film, like they missed with Star Wars, for 'Conan The Barbarian' think mucho toy sales. Film wasn't targeted for toy buying age (had some Claret involved) So they had to create a world and story for He-Man...

Really? These kids were not little Millenials yet and actually did their best to get to see any movie where the Governator hacks up bad guys with a sword. I certainly had my ways to get to see any movie. Like Alien in 1979. Rated R, so I should not have gotten in for another six or seven years. Liked the movie, except for that Mexican girl who kept screaming one or two rows behind me.

I think 'they' also did a Toy line for Aliens, which kinda suffered the same fate. I think the kids were not quite the right age for toys that saw it. I do remember a toy collector on one of those Antiques Roadshow toy collectors thing in Discovery who had one in the box was worth quite a bit!

You mean this innocent little toy[^]? I was definitely the right age, but quickly abandoning my childhood to put together a computer. This action figure helped me along that path to the dark side because it scared the hell out of my mother and I would never have gotten it.
