Actually, I make a lot more money doing Engineering, than I do on software, but the software is more funner and I quite often have to write software to get the engineering tasks done.
I spent 12 years doing excel macros in Venezuela, but my official title was Senior Geoscience Advisor

I made the misdtakeof not clarifying things. I had to do an evaluation of a field with 1,200 wells. I asked if the data was available digitally and the reply was Yes, so I asked for the data and I got 1200 excel spreadsheet, one for each well. Fortunately, I used my Excel macro-Fu to extract the interesting parts ans constructed the needed summaries.
In another case I had to evaluate a field with 300 reservoirs and the contract SAID I HAD TO WRITE A REPORT FOR EACH ONE. sO I ENTERED DATA IN AN eXCEL sPREADSHEET, THEN USED A wORD MAIL MERGW TO GENERATE 300 BOILERPLATE REPORTS.

No, not yet. I have a PhD in Petroleum EWngineering and am working on a PhD in Computerr Scvience, so maybe some day, I'm be Dr Doctor. Or maybe I;I'll just decide enough is enough.
