They work well against Imps and Tomato Monsters as well, provided you are far enough away.

Set up a new server recently, VMware, AD Server ans an RDS Server. Among programs and setup I had to do email for about half the staff that use the server for this. About 65% of the staff were using Windows Live Mail. The old server is Windows Server 2008 R2 setup like a big Windows 7 computer along with Local Users and all.
So I covert the email to PST using a WLM to PST Converter I bought. Setup Outlook on new server and imported the PST. Assumed that Contacts were taken along for the ride, no. So look up where the contacts live in WLM and then see that you should export the contacts.
Crap! That is not going to be good as I don't want to start WLM cause these accounts are all POP3 aren't they and I don't want something to download when I'm not looking, plus I don't want to touch WLM again, once each to get account settings was traumatising enough.
Anyone know of a tool to get out contacts from WLM? Saw a couple online, but I don't feel like taking a guess and paying money to find it doesn't do the job as advertised.

The old server is still running then (at least for the WLM guys) - maybe you could suspend its POP3 service/app/daemon/hamster whilst you trudge around the intertube exporting various contacts?
[edit] And, of course, do the pst thing again... and tell the users not to make any new contacts... etc etc etc [/edit]

Wookietab this morning: press the power button, doesn't go into sleep mode. "Slide down to shut down your computer" instead. All the Settings look fine, but ...
Eventually find a cure online: turn off "fast startup". Do it.
Sleep mode restored.
Except ... now the soft keyboard won't appear. Find a cure online: shutdown /s /t 0
And ... now the screen won't auto rotate. Find a cure online: turn the "rotate lock" on, reboot, turn it off.
Going to be one of those days, I suspect ...
