Or enroll in a Java class and say they're "studying engineering".
Most of all they don't understand that it's not about the individual; it's about the product.
Software Development is very rarely engineering. Websites least of all.

A programmer is one who just writes code. A software engineer is one who designs out the system AND writes the code. In very simple terms, that's how I have always understood the difference.
I have always been a Software Engineer and have never felt "full of myself."
Social Media - A platform that makes it easier for the crazies to find each other.

Back again from a gruelling expedition in the Dutch mountains.
Although we had bikes with electric support and did not bike for more than about 30 km, the batteries were drained completely during a trip across the Belgian border in the "Voerstreek" !
Nevertheless our stay in the province of Limburg was very enjoyable, our location near the so-called "three-country point" allowed us to undertake interesting biking trips to the German town of Aachen and a part of Belgium called the "Voerstreek" which made us feel like being in France as this part of Belgium is French speaking.
Also Limburg itself is very attractive, has nice cities like Maastricht, beautiful countryside, marl caves and last but not least "zuurvlees" (sour meat)

Actually, the Dutch mountains are quite interesting.
It's where the army (and loads of civilians) hid out, during the war. There are lots of elaborate caves and chambers, carved directly into the mountains.

So we all know that everyone surfs the net at work (and posts on social media sites -- like this one ) nowadays. That's how most of the "work" gets done these days.
But, how was "work" done before the Internet?
Well, it was done with Infocom.
Infocom games were popular, InfoWorld said, in part because "in offices all over America (more than anyone realizes) executives and managers are playing games on their computers".[9] An estimated 25% had a computer game "hidden somewhere in their drawers", Inc. reported, and they preferred Infocom adventures to arcade games.
Infocom adventures are much easier to hide in plain sight on your screen when your boss walks in.

I remember playing Adventure on a big IBM machine where my mom worked, I guess it would have been in the mid-late-70s or something. That was probably my first interaction with a computer, that I can remember.
