I agree. I used to tell people this all the time on Stack Overflow, but then I got "the talk" from the admins.
So I don't bother helping people anymore.

Don;t post the same thing in multiple places - I already answered this in QA:
Look at what <cde>cin does: Basic Input/Output - C++ Tutorials[^] and you will see:

To get an entire line from cin, there exists a function, called getline, that takes the stream (cin) as first argument, and the string variable as second.
Multiple posts just duplicates work and that annoys people.

I'm being a grumpy old fart here, but it's appalling to me the attitude so many students seem to take now.
When I was a computer engineering major in the early 80's the resources I had for help with projects were few: my classmates, the textbook, and the instructor. My university had a first-class library with a lot of computing materials on hand, and even that wasn't always helpful.
Today's students have countless online resources to help them when they get stuck with a project. If I had that back when I was in school I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Why can't they respect community guidelines?
