This has been tried several times, with various success level. I think we should settle that the island is actually the best solution.

Ah, but ... this time, if we invade the whole EU, by the time your sub-sub-committees have worked out a that an urgent response is needed and submitted it to the European Parliament for rejection because it doesn't meet the needs of the various special interest groups it'll be 2025 and you'll all be part of the EUK (Empire of the United Kingdom) or slaving away in a gulag ...

I'd say there's still good in you, but I doubt there was ever any good in there to begin with

Use a custom rom such as LineageOS. No preinstalled google apps at all. If you want/need some of the apps then you can install OpenGapps Pico. This will install just enough functionality to use the play store, from there you just install the apps you ACTUALLY want not what google wants you to have.

Today was archiving day, zipping up all the old projects and libraries hardly ever used.
ended up with about 14G of zipped (actually .tar.gz seeing as now on linuks) and the corresponding unachived folders removed.
OK, better do backups:
internal manual full system shadow drive: 25 seconds
external drive (also full file system) X 2: about 45 seconds each (including plug/unplug)
once upon a time I thought burning to DVD was fast (would have been a few disks for that)
once upon a time I thought external hard disks were really fast (on winduze)
I love my SSD's and USB 3.1 [running on an o/s that knows what it's doing], anything else is just a joke.

Tell that to my colleague whose 6 month old laptop has just suffered severe bit rot in its SSD.
When I asked if he had a backup he put his head in his hands...

Over the last 30+ years, I've had a few HDDs fail on me, as well. One lasted less than six months.
SSDs may be proof against mechanical problems, but that doesn't mean that they are totally reliable; no technology developed by humans is. Anyone who doesn't keep multiple copies of important data is asking (begging) for trouble.

Nah, they are using twitter.
