So someone came up with this, but still nothing to tell me when the washing machine is done.

The washer and dryer are in the basement. I never hear them beep. Be nice to also just know where the cycle is at without having to go check on them (in case I want to leave the house, why leave if its has 5 minutes to complete?).

Haven't you watched the ads on the idiot box? Samsung (I think) makes a USB dongle for you washer (it does have USB port, right)that texts you when it is washing, spinning, remaining time in cycle, all that stuff. Ditto for the dryer

Hi All,
Had an interesting weekend, to say the least. First my Dad's had his Birthday which leads to my Uncle and Aunt visiting my parents. To say there is some friction all sharp/heavy items are moved or hidden to make the area safe around them. That went OK. It's all looking up I thought, then looking through Farce Book, I have an invite from a friend (we went to school together) to his funeral! Now thats odd I think contact his brother and it turns out to be true(feeling a bit guilty for picking on him)! He died in sleep I am told. So  he is a month younger than me. I am now getting worried. I always thought I was in the ' mean time between failure ', old enough to know better, young enough no to care.

The key words are "Mean Time", there are always outliers in both directions. The question you should ask is what the standard deviation is.
Have you heard about the bathtub curve?
It's when you blend together the curves for "Infant mortality failures" with "Wearout failures".
Personally I passed from negative to positive inclination yesterday.

Never heard of the game Day of infamy before, but as it was on offer on Steam and got positive reviews I spent a few bucks on it. It turns out to be a fantastic WWII FPS game (and that means a lot from someone spoilt by games like Battlefield).
One problem though, on my Dell gaming notebook, which is not exactly low spec, it runs hot after only minutes of playing and the fans start blazing. So be warned

As I suspected "Day of infamy" is not on the list of NVidia supported games: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/games/
A well known title like Skyrim is, and this runs much better on my gaming notebook without generating too much heat.
The free to play "Heroes & Generals" is on the list, but sadly still generates a lot of heat
