Well ... if you are a masochist it'll be a treat. Honestly, it's worse that Edge in windows, and that takes some doing.
I'm reading the same book on two devices: the Wookietab (with Win10 Edge, which turns out to be a pretty good epub reader) and the Nexus 7 (with FB Reader, which is also a pretty good epub reader). The Nexus is portable so it fits in my pocket and I can read while waiting for Herself to finish doing whatever it was that was so essential I had to come along. The Wookietab is more comfortable when I'm at home (as well as having a much better battery life)
But ... it's a small pain because I have to manually sync the two and they don't use the same system: Edge uses "percent read". FB reader uses page number - which varies according to font size, understandably.
So I had a brilliant idea: install Edge for Android. They even communicate, so I can probably "share" the book if I am careful.
Oh gawd, I wish.
It's slow. Very slow. Much, much slower than Chrome on the same device, and (despite four cores to play with) it locks up while loading it's home page until the load is complete. And those are some pretty big pictures of Chris Evans it has decided to serve me whether I want them or not.
"Sign in with your MS account and you can share!" Ok.
"How do you want your verification code sent?" OK. Email.
Wait.
Get email on desktop. type code on tablet.
Wait.
Wait some more.
"Now go to your PC and Settings...phone...and follow instructions" Sigh. OK.
"Enter phone number". Don't have one, it's a tablet, not a phone. Enter phone number.
Get a text with a long link. Sigh again, and bodge up some way to get link to tablet (via Google Calendar which shares seamlessly across four devices)
Paste link into chrome. MS open Google play to offer me a pile of bloatware I don't want.
Go back to Edge. There's a new button! Press it, and ... the current tablet page appears on the Wookietab. No matching button on Wookie tab to go the other way.
Microsoft, do me a favour. Sit down with Chrome and a couple of Android devices and look at how well they all work together. Marvel at how it seamlessly shares calendar, Contact, bookmarks, browser history between them.
Then sit down with your own POS offering and try to work out why you are losing the mobile war on every front you try ... FFS!

When has microsoft EVER done anything the way anybody else does it?
Even if it's an ISO standard when has microsoft still not done it different? [while nearly always claiming it is 'fully standard*' .... * with microsoft enhancements]?

actually I'll be fair, visual studio ain't bad - but lately for mine seems ms are trying very hard to break that too "correct that anomaly."

That's what is so frustrating: when they do things well, they are absolutely brilliant.
Look at VS - the best IDE on the planet, even if it's seemingly getting a little flaky, it's still miles ahead of the rest.
Excel? The best spreadsheet going.
Windows for Workgroups? Genius! It made networking an office so simple you didn't need a network admin (try that with Novel and see how far you didn't get).
But they forget what works, and go with what some idiot fresh out of marketing school (1 week course, no fails, free donuts) thinks is new and exciting. Gah!

Add Office as a whole to the 'things of brilliance' column. Especially with Access, and being able to open, edit, and print documents and spreadsheets via VBA from it. You can run a small to big-sized business with it if you wanted to, although other DBs are better options at the big end. But you could if you wanted to!
All it would take for me to try Edge again is to add the option for the right-click "Open in new tab" selection to immediately go to that tab. There's a thread in MS's boards asking for that to be reinstalled since IE had it. Over two years old and of course they haven't done anything about it.

Word, Excel, VisualStudio, Publisher. Even Windows is still miles ahead Linux for desktops.
And I'm not a fanboy, I just tried most of the alternatives and know where to bet my money (and livelihood) on.

- ms didn't invent these, there were better (and remember I said "better" not "more poular")
and then ms gave us the ribbon - which actually slower than menus, so worse than before

?? nope, again you confuse "more popular" with better because it isn't.
- as an "operating system" there are serious shortcomings in windows that don't make it a very good o/s, network stack is a kludge (actally it's not even a proper network stack - the way it's faked up makes it way slower than others which is why it'll never be used in high performance servers), file system fails basic multiuser requirements (again making it the last-if-ever choice for high demand/availability servers), drivers are attached to the booting environment rather than loaded dynamically meaning it has poor hot-swap ability (though they hacked someting up for disks by double-double buffering at the cost of more speed), no standardization of device interfaces so need to code separately per interface type, no proper separation of kernel from userland (hence the millions of viruses vs the few for others). and then there's partly building userland applications into the o/s? wtf! that should never happen.
as far as "operating systems" go windows is really badly designed, based on the bad design of win2k (which itself inherited many poor choices from win 3.1) it's layers of hacks on kludges on what is essentially a single thread insecure pipeline.
- and if you mean the user interface, sorry, linux and apple win there too - those are FULLY configurable to how the user wants it too - windows will never win that battle. just look at the menu on win-10 - they've even broken their own crap to something much worse.

That month I mast have been slepping. I totally missed that month's issue of Popular Electronics[^]. Or maybe my parents had cut my allowance for some reason and I could not afford to buy it.
Look at the cover! Boards, LED address and data displays, a hex keyboard! That must be the Microprocessor Product Development System they mention in the headline above.
But why is it so familiar? The board on the right is the same as my Elf II's memory board. The one at the top is the Elf's I/O board. The board in the front has the Elf's hex keyboard , it's (slightly expanded) displays and new pushbuttons to control the processor modes instead of the Elf's toggle switches.
Buttons for processor modes? That already tells me what processor sits on the CPU board in the middle. Good choice. The whole thing is a only slightly modernized Elf II.
This article (on Page 61) could actually still be relevant to my modernized Elf. I wanted to do away with the hex keyboard, LED displays and mode switches (or buttons). This Microprocessor Product Development System also has a simple power-on reset (plus reset button), but has all the keyboard, display and mode selection stuff on a separate optional board.
I like that. Why not be modern as the default and retain the option to plug in this hex keyboard/display/mode buttons board and do things the traditional Elf way? I'm sure I can still eliminate some of the ICs. Does anyone know a good (and still available!) hexadecimal driver for 7 segment LED displays?

What a blast from the past.
Several years ago when I got back into electronics I started getting test equipment and I found the Heath Tri Power Supply listed on page 77 on ebay for I believe $25. I kept it for a couple of years until a friend of mine saw what I was doing and got interested so bought a good surplus BK 1660A and gave my friend the Heath.
