That's a rather lousy quality article on the release.

it neglects to mention that the exploits need admin privileges to work. Attacking the secure enclave processor to install malware that's invisible to the OS and which will persist across OS reinstalls is still a major upgrade to a more serious attack; but this is only a second stage payload to do more/longer lasting damage after the system's already been compromised not a way to get admin or to attack with only use privileges.

It also ignores that CTS labs created the sites reporting on the bug weeks ago, but gave AMD less than 24 hours notice, and lists among its disclosures that it may be attempting to monetize the stock market shifts triggered by the announcement.

TL;DR Bad, but nowhere near as much as they're trying to hype, and the reporting company are scumbags trying to make a buck by shifting AMDs stock price.

For both the article quality and CTS's actions:

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
--Zachris Topelius
