Only some commie bastard would not agree with you, right? Connecting propaganda (Mickeysoft tools to make awesome blah blah blah) with 'awesome' ("running intergalactic empires blah blah blah") and something one can't possibly have anything against ("...putting food on the table...") is one of the simplest tricks of rhetorical manipulation. And yes, manipulation is by its very nature dishonest.

Actually, your post violates the rules. There are ethnic groups active today whose ancestors treated cats as representatives on Earth of deities of one sort or another. On that basis, your post can be considered political and therefore inappropriate for the Lounge.

I would think that a discussion of whether the rules apply to a topic cannot be against the rules.
In any case, your analogy is false. There are identifiable ethnic groups whose ancestors practiced Zoroastrianism; pointing out that discussions of Zoroastrianism are forbidden is hardly against the rules.

Reminds me of the summer camp by the coast I went to when I was a kid. After every meal we would take our leftovers to the bay and toss them to the dolphins.
They used to call us to meals by ringing a bell and yelling "Dinner: for all in tents and porpoises"
