We have a Valentine's party with my daughter's homeschool group in an hour and another party tomorrow night at our church.
My daughter is giving her classmates bars of homemade soap in heart shapes.

Yeah, that happened last year at Christmas. My wife gave the children gingerbread soap, shaped like gingerbread men. The children were told it was soap; the parents didn't ask, just took a bite.

Maybe she should just give them Tide Pods.

Are you saying you think I have a nerdy mind?

I believe that description would fit a majority here.
Question is if it would be appreciated by your better halfs?

Talking of nerdy... I do recall, when studying math at uni, proving once that

In Italy it's widely celebrated - just not with cards but with gifts and days out. In Japan AFAIK the traditional gift is chocolate.

Yes.. and no.
Real men can share a residence with a cat, but the cat knows that they are in charge and the 'owner' I actually the willing slave.
We have 5 indoor/outdoor cats (mostly stay inside, but do venture out) and 2 outdoor/indoor cats (mostly stay outside, but come in to eat). They make us very aware of our position in relation to them.

My dog makes it very clear to cats what their position is relative to him....

The cats go to the dog to get groomed; the dog nibbles the fur around the cat's neck and back. If the dog stops to soon, she gets swatted.

No. Real men never let a cat be in charge.

A dog thinks:
Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me...
They must be gods!

I must be a god.
Nobody owns a cat.
I'm pretty sure I would not like to live in a world in which I would never be offended.
I am absolutely certain I don't want to live in a world in which you would never be offended.

The cat merely allows you to think you're charge. They're like wives in that regard.
Sometimes the true reward for completing a task is not the money, but instead the satisfaction of a job well done. But it's usually the money.

Tim Carmichael wrote: I actually the willing slave How did that happen? That's one thing a housecat can never do.
You know how they find their pecking order among themselves: They fight. That can get quite fierce when none of them gives up. A housecat would never attack you when they question your rank, just because of your size and strength.
That's also the reason why only very stupid men would have a big cat running around in their house. It's a big kitten until the moment comes when it tries out how strong it really is.
Don't you really know who they think you are? They think you are their mother and allow themselves the luxury of playing the little playful kitten when they are with you. Mother protects them and cares for them. They can be very demanding when you spoil them rotten, but it's still only baby behavior.
The good thing is that cats, contrary to common belief, learn very quickly when they want to. If you do it right, you will soon have them purring you to death, because that usually is their next strategy when nagging does not work anymore.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
