Quote: high energy
Quote: no sugar
Choose one. Energy comes from sugars.
There is *nothing* wrong in sugars, fats or carbohydrates. They just need to be correctly rationed and most of all the snacks and continuous eating must be reduced, preferrably to 0.
We do a fully cerebral and static job, which stresses us a lot and induce false hunger (more like: "I need something to fill me and give me endorphines - HEY is that a chocolate caramel nuts dried fruit bar??! That will do!"). Willpower is the only cure for that stress induced hunger.

The body can turn fat (and protein) into sugars. Thats the key.

But not short-term energy like what one wants from energy drinks. They might and usually will replenish minerals lost and give some vitamins whihc help the overall efficiency of the body but there is no fast energy without sugars.

Yeah, they do drugs.

Start running, if you don't do it yet.

That's no good, you can't run from that. The weight catches up with you eventually - trust me, I know...

Bad advice. He wants to do zero carbohydrates. You just told him to go racing with an empty fuel tank. It's not so bad when a car runs out of fuel, but it's not so easy to restart him when he collapses.

Balanced diet and running is far better than zero carbohydrates.

True: if you want to get fit
False: if you want to lose weight.
Only way to loose weight: eat less

It works, I made my tests.

But it SOUNDS like loose. Stupid language English is!

I like spelling 'learned' as 'learnt', the way it is pronounced. it is a valid spelling still though not common.
English is basically a mess though, I think we should just spell stuff how we like, it always was that way.

Alas, you've must have gotten a hacked copy of the diet book I was thinking of writing.
"The Eat Less Diet"
Page 1: Eat Less
Page 2-144: (blank, for your notes)
Based on the premises that:
If you eat fewer calories than you burn you will lose weight.
If you eat more calories than you burn you will gain weight.
Anything else is just a gimmick.

In the long run (pun intended), yes, but some quick results may help you to get started.

Tried that, I am too heavy. Started getting sore ankles. Cycling is better, though at the moment I am doing quite a lot of physical work.

at 120kg he really should lose a bit of weight first. The rule of thumb I've seen quoted here is that above 250lbs (113 kg) the peak loads running puts on your joints begin to exceed the maximum that the joints were designed to withstand and the risk of a soft tissue injury starts to increase rapidly.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

No offense, but burning fat by burning calories is way more reliable than just stopping to eat...

Yeah, you have to do both: eat less and exercise. And make that change your lifestyle - or it'll go back on when you stop ...

Oh, he can eat a two pound steak. As often as he wants to. It's all protein, fat and water, but zero carbohydrates.
No carbohydrates means no fuel, so the body must fall back on the reserves and the bacon belt melts. The problem is, that these reserves can't be accessed so easily and too much physical activity might lead to him collapsing and not getting up again. I would not try this without medical supervision and certainly not go merrily running around in lonly places.
