I remember a case from a few years ago where some guys turned into a vegetable, and one of them even died, after such an experimental drug turned out to cause brain damage.
Some money is nice, a lot of money is nicer, but being in good health is priceless.
I'd consider it if I really needed the money, but at the moment €4000,- is just a nice extra

Nope. I live in the neighborhood. I'd consider it only if taking place in California, Iceland, Hawaii, or generally someplace with a nice beach hospital and a paid plane ticket. Surfer blondes and hot nurses would be a bonus.

A few years ago my younger brother mentioned that he'd considered signing up for a similar trial but that as appealing as $1k for a week was decided to pass. He was less than amused when I responded that getting paid more than that every week without being deliberately exposed to a plague was even nicer. :trollface:

When medicines are tested on humans they are fairly safe (at least in the EU) so I could consider it.

Prednison is regular medication that is still prescribed, but that doesn't mean that you can take it for long without negative effects. One of the results is osteoporosis - that doesn't make it "bad" medicine, it just means that you don't take if there's no compelling reason to do so.
Another example would be Puri-Nethol; yes, it is safe, as long as you don't plan on having children.
That's side-effects from regular medication that is already "tested and safe". You're talking about something that isn't "that tested and safe", otherwise the testing would not even be required.

To pick one random reason: experimental medicines, which could be more harmful than the flu, if not fatal to some; and I would not want to be a member of the group "some".

Hi All,
So the film has been released for a few days, I am going to see it tonight. Before I go I have to ask is it a remake of the Empire (the best) as Force Awakens was a rehash of Star Wars (young upstart from a desert moon, gets involved in issues follows old man to his death, giant planet killing space ball etc.) don't get me wrong I liked it but it was a replay of the original. I just hope they have gone a little further into plot, the still of Finn remincent of Han playing with Boba Fett...?

I saw the film two nights ago. It has some elements reminiscent of the Empire Strikes Back, but it reminded me to some extent of the old Bruce Lee films, where the plot (such as it was) was merely a vehicle to take the heroes from one fight to the next.
It's good, clean, forgettable, fun.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

I thought Leslie Nielsen played his part really well too - it was good to see Frank Drebin in new material, even if he does work for the bad guys now.

To be honest, I'm still trying to decide whether I liked it or not. There were bits that could be cut out without any loss. The opening sequence gave me high hopes for the film; when you see it you'll appreciate what I mean but it faltered a bit then. There's a bit with Leia that felt like the shark cage was filled and the motor bike was revving towards the ramp at speed and that jarred for me; it took me a while to get over being angry with that bit. I have to say, some of the characters are very generic and I really wish they'd done more with Luke.
It's not Empire Strikes Back, but it's not Phantom Menace either.
