I was just trying to show what over-engineering can result in. I took an admittedly short section of code, and wrote several hundred lines just to whittle it down to a single line of code in the view. Honestly, copy/paste would have taken a lot less time, but I don't trust it because every time I copy/paste something, Windows probably sends it to one or more of the three-letter alphabet agencies involved in spying on and/or harassment of private citizens.

It may not be over engineering.
If the bang is worth the buck, it is justified. Would you not agree?
A lot of tools and tool-sets have thousands of lines of code, just so a developer can write one liners - standard operating procedure.

I think there's plenty of that out there already.

That's what makes Great Britain great - in GCHQ they have a four-letter alphabet agency.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Garbage Collection HQ? Will my data be protected if I code in unmanaged C++?

I would have expected that you had at least built your own VM running some kind of IL, complete with compiler and IDE.

That's currently under construction, but it's not done enough to start talking about. I will say, however that it's too easily used without modification by multiple projects, so it still obviously needs a lot more over-engineering.

At first I failed to notice that the second code block had a scroll bar.

Yeah, when I was done writing it, I sat back to gaze upon my brilliance, and I realized I'd written a dozen classes with about 1500 lines just so I could write a one-liner in the view.
When my wife asked me what I was doing, and I explained it to her, she said, "And why did you do this?"
I replied, "Because 'MURRICA!"

This isn't over-engineering. This is keeping your job interesting for yourself.

The new Star Wars movie came out at midnight - 17 hours ago - and not one post about it.
No "as bad as The Force Awakens".
No "best thing since sliced Jedi".
Total silence.
Surely, the Disney company can't have put all the die-hard Jedi off watching it?
I admit, I'll wait for it on DVD - I kept expecting Rey to sing a duet with bluebirds in TFA...

After Holly Willoughby gave spoilers on This Morning there's no need to actually go and see it.

There is only one "Star Wars" and it was released in 1977.

People that like the story/series all say it's the best star wars movie made to date.
People that are ho-hum about the story/series give mixed reviews.
People that don't like the story/series will all say that it's just more of the same garbage.
It's the same with any franchise. I learned a long time ago not to rely on other people's opinions of things, and prefer to go through the act of discovery on my own.

Maybe they just got a late start and they are still wandering around in a euphoric fog?
