It's true and false.
Someone's simple code might look complicated to other.

I can't remember the specific but to give you an analogy / anecdotal evidence once I refactored some code to be way shorter and more linear.
Unfortunately I was using this newfangled keyword await and this new class no-one uses in the company: Task.

Sometimes people refuses to understand something simply because it doesn't look enough like copy paste from some other part of the application. That is unfortunate when your challenge is to simplify code that is, from everybody's agreement, too much spaghetti like....
