How's this for an idea. Buy a handfull of helium balloons. Buy a roll of fruitbasket shrinkwrap. Buy, if you don't already have one, a heat gun. Take each helium balloon and wrap it in shrink wrap off the roll then without tying off the crimped end at the pinched part of the balloons' end shrink the wrap to conform to the balloon. Now, again for each balloon that is shrinkwrapped-stage-one, rotate the balloon just a tad in the shrinkwrap shell. Take a pin and in an area of pinched skin of the balloon make an itsybitsy hole. Slowly release the balloon skin until the contents, under pressure (so be careful), begins to leak out into the space of the shrinkwrapped shell. Do this until the balloon is limp, extract the limp balloon, pinch the shrinkwrapped-filled-with-helium shell and tie with small length of ... whatnot. Repeat for all remaining shrinkwrap primordia. Reattach leash(es). Walk like dandy down the lane.
Much more resilient set of party balloons and, imho, user-added value ...

I have to reinstall windows (7) on my machine at home today because over the last couple of months, I have managed to completely screw up my VS2013 install and nothing I've tried has had a positive effect on it (if anything, it's worse than when I started trying to fix it).
I spent most of the day yesterday making sure I had my file ducks in a row because I'm moving 1tb of data to a new 3TB drive, and repartitioning the drive that data used to be on (this took about 8 hours).
When noting apps that were installed, I was surprised at how little additional software I was actually using.

well if you're doing that grab a SSD and install onto that,
(even if it's just a 256/512 for the OS)

Nope - I need at least a 300gb drive to install the OS and all the software, and we're talking anywhere from $150 and up for a SSD. in that size range. Given my need to "plan for the future", I would want to get at least a 500gb drive, and most of those start at/above $200.
In comparison, a 1tb analog drive only costs $50. I'll stick with the old stuff, thank you.

A quick search found 500 gm ssd - Google Search[^] the price about 3/4 that - but even in that case, I would also opt for something like a WD Black 1TB as my primary drive.

I was trying to use the Maps Geocode API, and specified my home address. When I got the json results back, only the house number and state were correct, but the rest of the address (street name, city, and zip code) was borked (resulting in about about 25 miles in deviation).
However, if I enter the address in google maps, it correctly locates my house.
I submitted "feedback", but I have no idea how long it's gonna take for them to fix it, or how they'll notify me when the issue is addressed.
Instead of working on their new electronic utopia, maybe they should consider fixing their services...

you do have to be very exact and avoid abbreviations (i.e. use street, not st)
it does no no auto corrections i.e. "wshington"->"washington"
ans coz it can't any suggestions feedback and just takes the first best-fit guess on the first word.
Lucky for us here in tiny singapore every building has a unique postcode, so using just the postcode always works
using a street style address almost always problematic.

I tried every variation of "Drive" in the street name I could think of (including not specifying "Drive" at all).
Google maps also didn't care how I spelled "drive" in the street address. It ALWAYS found my house.

replace the spaces in the address with %20
the answers come back as decimal strings (not d.mmss) so for ex 1 degree 30 min would be 1.50000
sometimes it adds extra lat & lon results (POI's?? alternate similar?) - be sure to use FirstOrDefault quick snippet (ignore the style)

I just tried it with spaces, and it does the same thing - the right house number and state, but otherwise, the wrong address. Thus all of the other info in the json response is also incorrect.

Unlucky, but for me Singapore is a tiny place, 25 miles in most directions would be in the sea so perhaps they try a bit harder here. Maybe they figure in larger (proper) countries 25 miles is still close enough for many purposes (dropping nukes comes to mind.)
But seriously, commas perhaps? When you type your address in the google maps web page it'll normally fill out the url in the address bar with they way it likes it formatted (i.e. try cutting and pasting the google maps web page result url into the request.)

That's a good one. Back before I blocked Google, I was testing out their Google Voice before it was even released, it was in beta. I was one of the first users.
Had a MAJOR problem with it. That was around 10 years ago I think. They still haven't answered me. I still can't access the account, and every few months I get a notification that some fake burglar alarm company is "installing security systems in my neighborhood".
Losers.
Now I just block Google. Problem solved.

Hahaha, and to think Musk is afraid of AI
I used Google Translate to translate "Puten" (some bird) into Dutch, and it came back as "Turkije", a country - not as "Kalkoen", which would have been a bird, and not a country. The AI is as intelligent as a free database that looks up literal translations.
